Books on Banners Project Rules

Banners to be completed and sent to Kids Universe by Friday 20 August

The Books on Banners Project involves students artistically interpreting their favourite book cover onto large canvases. Students are invited to redesign a book cover onto large canvases, using a variety of mediums, i.e. collage, felt, paint etc. The banner material (1800 x 1000) is supplied free of charge to schools by Kids Universe. All the banners, with your school name highlighted, will then be presented as part of the Kids Universe festival decorations.

Kids Universe has planned further exhibitions of the Books on Banner Project at International Children’s Festivals in the UK, USA and Canada – just imagine your school’s artwork travelling the world!

Project 2 - Books on Stage

This project involves students theatrically interpreting their favourite book/story with the possible outcome of the interpretation being performed on stage at the Sydney International Children’s Festival, Kids Universe in September. The interpretation may utilise forms such as music, voice, mime, puppetry or drama.

Up to 50 schools from across NSW will be selected to perform at the Festival by our team of celebrity judges.
This is a terrific opportunity to show off the talents, imaginations, skills, abilities and even genius
of your school and your students to audiences of thousands.
Choose a book, re-interpret it theatrically, pop it on a DVD and impress our judges – all in the
name of fun, literature and possible fame!
